APRIL'S EDITION OF HIP-HOP HOOK UP FEATURES MOMBASA'S ARTIST

Hip-hop Hook Up is one of the few running shows that show full support to hip-hop artists. The show has been running for quite some time now,at the Sarakasi Dome in Nairobi, and it is one show where all hip-hop heads meet, from the fans to the artists, the legends and the upcoming. Hosted by Smallz Lethal and Nafsi Huru, the show goes down once every month, and it has a huge nation wide following.

This month's edition, our very own coast Artists have been featured in the performing list. Starting with the legend himself, Cannibal Shatta. The others lined up for performance are Ohms Law Montana, Kaladze Vidze and Odinare Bingwa.
On the same day, top female hip-hop artist X-Tatic will performing some of her tracks off the new mixtape, "Let Me Explain". Other big names on the perfoming list include Kitu Sewer, Man Njoro, Voodoo Seller.
This move by Smallz Lethal and Nafsi Huru to involve Mombasa artists shows that their work is being recognized nationwide. For a longtime, coast artists have always been complaining about being sidelined from the rest of the nation, but not anymore. We will witness it as our own artists share stage with big names in the hip-hop industry.

KASSAMONEY'S NEW VIDEO TO RAISE BARS IN COAST SHOWBIZ

Thugs now have something to smile as hip-hop artist Kassamoney decided to make a video for his hit song Hip hop Thugs Day which he featured Q'raps and Elsie. When Kassamoney dropped that track sometime last year, it was an instant hit, and appeared in most of Mombasa's radios charts. The track was recorded at Kelele Records, by one of the finest producers we have in Mombasa, Teknix.
The King of Kongowea  is not new in the game, he has other hits registered with name. One of my favourites is Oh My God which he featured dance-hall artist  C-De.

More to that, Kassamoney has a musical group, known as the Coast Side Militia which he founded.
He recruits young talented artists in his gang with the aim of helping them realize their dream. "Growing up (musically) for us was tough,"he says "we had no one to hold our hands and show us the directions. No one to tell us what to do. We had to find our way, and it wasn't easy".
In order to give back to his community, Kassamoney is using Coast Side Millitia to change the lives of many artists, within and around Kongowea.

The Video for Hip-hop Thugs day has been shot. The filming was done by CMG Films headed by Ricky Bekko from Nairobi. The video above shows the footage behind scenes during the making of the video.
It is set to drop on Monday, and trust me, this will shake Mombasa's Hip-hop scene. I asked him how much it did cost him to shoot the video. His response, laughing jokingly he said "Just know it cost me a fortune"

RIP MDUNDO

It all started in Kenya, with a hip-hop activist Smallz Lethal, who came out strongly against Mdundo.com. A lot of artists have been complaining about the minimal returns they get from Mdundo, after spending a lot of time and resources promoting their links what they get in return is nothing one can say in public. Smallz went ahead in a track and dropped what now become a famous line "Wasanii tulianguka Mtaani, Mdundo"
Now the syndrome has spread to Tanzania. Top hiphop artist Nikki Mbishi has been tweeting angry posts to Mdundo calling them Conmen. He further says that he won't stop complaining till Mdundo management addresses is issues. He even warns other Tanzanian artists against joining the website.
It's about time the rest of us also raised our voices in support of this because I am yet to hear of any artist who's complemented Mdundo. Till when shall we be oppressed while we stand aside and watch. Smallz Lethal and Nikki Mbishi have started it, now let's join in. Tanzania and Kenya versus Mdundo.

MOMBASA'S HOTTEST DIVA FEATURES HIP-HOP MAESTRO CANNIBAL IN A HOT COLLABO. WATCH THE VIDEO

After being out of the airwaves for quite some time, hip-hop maestro Cannibal is back with a bang, this time in a collabo with a hot coast diva, by the name Dyra.
The track is titled Kwala Kwala ( yes, I don't know what it means either). The video, shot here in Mombasa, is one of the best I have seen so far, and the beautiful Dyra makes it even more appealing. Cannibal is one of the few hip-hop artists who have represented Mombasa on an international stage after the fall of Ukoo Flani Maumau. And after him, we are yet to see another hip-hop artist from Mombasa rise to that level. Recently he has been seen around Mombasa and there are speculations that he is recruiting talented artists so as to expose them to wider markets, like they say, every King needs a successor.
Dyra on the other hand is a very talented singer. She had a band that performed at various clubs in Mombasa for quite some time last year. She is also very fond of karaokes. She is one of those singers whom you hear once and never forget that magical moment. This collaboration seems to be her entry into the industry as a recording artist. We hope to get more from her.
That said and done. You can now enjoy the video. Feel free to leave a comment and tell us what you think about the video.

WATCH MALINDI RECORDS 2015 CYPHER

All the way from Malindi, these guys drops a new cypher video for 2015. Pay close attention to Yung Njita. He really is something.

THERE ARE ONLY TWO TRIBES; THE RICH AND THE POOR. SAYS HUSTLA JAY.

After the Continental Scars video which impressed a lot of people across the nation. Hustla Jay is back with a brand new video title "Hewani" in which he featured Raindrop. If you loved the previous video, you will definitely love this more. The scene selection is awesome. It was shot in a Maasai homestead setting, bringing out the traditional aspect of Kenya and Africa at large.
The songs generally talks about social issues <you already know that by now,it's Hustla Jay>
There's this line I like he says " Umaskini ungekua unauzwa sokoni, singenunua hata na peni mbili"
This move by Hustla Jay should pose as a challenge to all other artists doing conscious
hip-hop. I am looking forward to that day when we will have more music videos, that do not have half naked girls twerking and all. That said and done, you need to check out that hot girl in this video. I mean, she really is something.

Enough Talk, how about you watch the video now.
