FINALLY MOMBASA HAS ITS OWN CITY ANTHEM

The Anonymous Vedette released a track with the title Hip-Hop City produced at Kelele Records by Teknixx. A week after it's release, everyone who heard it had one comment to say "This is Mombasa's New Street Anthem"
The song is about 5 mins long. Three verses, one in Swahili, Making it the first Swahili verse that The Vedette (as his pals call him) has recorded since he started his music career. The track generally talks about Mombasa, the good the bad and the evil.
The hook is catchy, and easy to sing along, declaring Mombasa a hip hop city.
Though not originally from Mombasa, The Anonymous Vedette has been on the for front fighting for the rights of Hip-hop artists in Mombasa Kenya, with help coming from his fellow artists like Ohms Law Montana (but we are changing it to Ohm's Law Mombasa we'll tell you about it in another article) Hip-hop in Mombasa is now taking shape and is accepted by media too.

5 AM IN MAGONGO THE BIG BEAST AWAKES

That is the title of a recently released track by The Big Beast from Magongo, Big Adebo. This track is one of the two released from the soon coming mix-tape A.I.T.F which stands for Africa Is The Future. The mixtape has been executive produced by Juke Myster "but am planning to add Petrooz, Mohjay, Peter Magician Buzzi from Namibia and Corner Boy from Europe" he says. The Mix-tape is not just limited to Kenya, like the name suggest, it has a collaboration of artist from across Africa. Countries featured are Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa, among others.
Big Adebo is a very lyrical hip-hop artist, if you've heard him you'll know what I  mean. His preferred language is English, which adds flavor to his music, because he has that good diction. His selection of words to use in his verses is just amazing. He uses simple words to break down a complex messages making him one of the best lyricist form the coast region.

Having that in mind, you are sure that the mix-tape is something to look forward to! We will notify you and keep you updated on the progress, but in the meantime you can get his music from Reverbnation. Download, share and support Coast Hip-Hop

HIPHOP SHOW BRINGS TOGETHER NAIROBI-MOMBASA ARTISTS

Pwani Vina is on this weekend! On the 28th of June. And this time we will be joined by hip-hop artists from Nairobi. That is, Smallz Lethal, Kev Mamba, Qama and Benardy. This is a big indication of the hardword amongst hiphop artists, that goes unrecognized because peole have other important thing to do like spying on socialites.
Pwani Vina is a show that supports hip-hop powered by Home-sound Studio, it has been running sin the beginning of this year and happens twice a month in Mtwapa.
Our visitors from Nairobi will be launching mix tapes, and an album by Benardy. So this is like a tour to promote their work.

This interaction of Hip-hop artists is a move I highly encourage, because coming from a country where Hip-hop is sidelined a lot we need each other for the support. Exchange of ideas, and collabos that lead to exchange of fans and such. Getting to know each other better and grow the movement!
Support local hip-hop. Let the Movement grow and see you at Pwani Vina!

THE NUMBER 1 VIDEO

Finally the Make A Name video is out (okay it was launched like a week ago but I have been offline a bit anyways, now you know) The track Made it to the top of Pwani Fms countdown for quite some time now, being the first hip hop track to be number one in  very long time.

The Video is out. The selection of scenes was perfect. I like the classroom scene, with beautiful Natasha Bahati making an appearance right there. Also in the video I did spot Stella Charles another beauty queen.

The quality of the video is good, I wanna challenge all those who say coast music is of poor quality. I will use this track and it's video as an example.  If you wanna watch the video it is available on YouTube click here.

Mombasa is on the rise. Hip-hop is taking over the industry. Big up to Odinare Bingwa, Ohm's Law and Midnight Fantasy (watch out for this guy. He's the guy on the chorus)
