APRIL'S EDITION OF HIP-HOP HOOK UP FEATURES MOMBASA'S ARTIST

Hip-hop Hook Up is one of the few running shows that show full support to hip-hop artists. The show has been running for quite some time now,at the Sarakasi Dome in Nairobi, and it is one show where all hip-hop heads meet, from the fans to the artists, the legends and the upcoming. Hosted by Smallz Lethal and Nafsi Huru, the show goes down once every month, and it has a huge nation wide following.

This month's edition, our very own coast Artists have been featured in the performing list. Starting with the legend himself, Cannibal Shatta. The others lined up for performance are Ohms Law Montana, Kaladze Vidze and Odinare Bingwa.
On the same day, top female hip-hop artist X-Tatic will performing some of her tracks off the new mixtape, "Let Me Explain". Other big names on the perfoming list include Kitu Sewer, Man Njoro, Voodoo Seller.
This move by Smallz Lethal and Nafsi Huru to involve Mombasa artists shows that their work is being recognized nationwide. For a longtime, coast artists have always been complaining about being sidelined from the rest of the nation, but not anymore. We will witness it as our own artists share stage with big names in the hip-hop industry.

KASSAMONEY'S NEW VIDEO TO RAISE BARS IN COAST SHOWBIZ

Thugs now have something to smile as hip-hop artist Kassamoney decided to make a video for his hit song Hip hop Thugs Day which he featured Q'raps and Elsie. When Kassamoney dropped that track sometime last year, it was an instant hit, and appeared in most of Mombasa's radios charts. The track was recorded at Kelele Records, by one of the finest producers we have in Mombasa, Teknix.
The King of Kongowea  is not new in the game, he has other hits registered with name. One of my favourites is Oh My God which he featured dance-hall artist  C-De.

More to that, Kassamoney has a musical group, known as the Coast Side Militia which he founded.
He recruits young talented artists in his gang with the aim of helping them realize their dream. "Growing up (musically) for us was tough,"he says "we had no one to hold our hands and show us the directions. No one to tell us what to do. We had to find our way, and it wasn't easy".
In order to give back to his community, Kassamoney is using Coast Side Millitia to change the lives of many artists, within and around Kongowea.

The Video for Hip-hop Thugs day has been shot. The filming was done by CMG Films headed by Ricky Bekko from Nairobi. The video above shows the footage behind scenes during the making of the video.
It is set to drop on Monday, and trust me, this will shake Mombasa's Hip-hop scene. I asked him how much it did cost him to shoot the video. His response, laughing jokingly he said "Just know it cost me a fortune"
