THE UNHEARD SIDE OF HIPHOP

While the whole of Kenya was busy drooling over Vera Sidika's ass and every blogger posting irrelevant socialite non-sense, hip-hop activist Hustlajay Maumau was dinning with the Chief Justice of Kenya. Yes, hip-hop was taken to the high offices by one of our own coast artists. Hustlajay was able to address a whole bunch of judges and lawyers about issues concerning the nation. If you have listened to his tracks you already have an idea of what he was talking about.
This shows that we can change the whole perception of hip-hop ourselves. We do not have to be branded as uneducated rowdy drug addicts bringing shame to the society. We can be the voice of the people, educate the folks. Talk of relevant issues affecting the society and at the same time entertain people.
Hip hop is a weapon that can be used to fight impunity, corruption, tribalism. We can promote peace and harmony through hip-hop. Hustlajay has shown us the way, we should follow in his steps.
